Six Premier League records Man City or Liverpool could still break this season

With the Premier League season heading into the crunch time frame, there are still various things that could happen.

Liverpool will be confident of recapturing the structure that saw them go on a keep running of nine straight wins between mid-November and the finish of December so as to keep their title dreams alive.

City will be resolved to not surrender any more ground as they hope to make it back-to-back Premier League titles without precedent for their history.

These two teams have lit up the best flight this season with attacking prowess and defensive solidity, making for a standout amongst the most captivating title races as of late.

There are still various Premier League records available to the two clubs as the final nine games approach.

In light of that, We investigated which records could still be broken before the finish of the league campaign by both Liverpool and Manchester City…

Manchester City – Fewest Premier League Draws

It may shock a couple of individuals to realize that Manchester City have just drawn two games in the best flight this season.

Those came way back in August and October when an away point at recently advanced Wolves was pursued four games later by a tense stalemate against title rivals Liverpool at Anfield.

Since then the Citizens have not shared the points in any game, losing four and winning the rest.

No side has gone a whole Premier League season drawing just two games with the ebb and flow record of three being held by Chelsea in both 1997/98 and 2016/17.

Manchester City won't want to drop any more points so this record would be an appreciated addition to those they have already gathered.

Liverpool – Most Clean-Sheets in a Single Season

This one will take some doing by the Reds, who at present have 17 clean-sheets in 2018/19. The record of 25, set by Chelsea in 2004-05, is still inside reach however they would have to go the total of the remaining games without letting in a single goal to achieve it.

Maybe this one is asking a lot with Liverpool still having to face top four opposition in Tottenham and fifth place Chelsea yet they haven't allowed a goal in any of the last four games so maybe, just maybe…

Manchester City and Liverpool – Most Premier League Points without Winning a Title

This is the record that neither one of the clubs will want however both can still get. The present record stands at 89 points when Manchester United finished second to city rivals Manchester City in 2011/12 – that famous Aguero strike against QPR will live long in each City fan's memory.

With Manchester City on 71 points and Liverpool on 70, both of them could potentially finish second with a massive 97 points this season.

Manchester City and Liverpool – Least Number of Points for a Title Winner

In 1996/97 Manchester United won the Premier League with just 75 points be that as it may, technically, that is still a record that the two sides could achieve.

In the event that they both suddenly continue shocking runs and all the chasing pack do excessively then 74 points for the title would be a startling and equally impossible scenario.

Manchester City – Most Home Wins

Although Manchester City can't break this record, which presently stands at 18 (held by Chelsea, Man Utd and City themselves) they can equal it on the off chance that they win their remaining four games at the Etihad which would be an amazing achievement.

On the off chance that they do that, at that point they will probably win the title yet with 27 points still available to all, it promises to be an energizing finish.

Andy Robertson – Most Assists by a Defender

The Liverpool left-back has been great this season for Klopp's side. He has bagged himself eight assists in the best flight already and will have an eye on the record set by Andy Hinchcliffe and Leighton Baynes, which stands at 11.

Three more will see him equal that tally and however four is expected to break it. With games running out this would be an amazing achievement yet then the Scotsman has been described as super-human at times this season. Presently he has to demonstrate it.

Alisson – Most Clean-Sheets in a Single Season

The Brazilian has made a tremendous contrast to the Reds this campaign helped, of course, by the brilliance of Virgil van Dijk before him.

The previous Roma man has already grabbed 17 shut-outs in 2018/19 and still has a chance of break Petr Cech's record of 24, set back in 2004/05.

With just nine games to go he will have his work removed yet regardless of whether he doesn't break the record, Liverpool fans will still rate him as the best stopper in the Premier League, after all, he has kept three more clean-sheets than any other best flight goalkeeper this season already.

Sergio Aguero – most Consecutive 20+ Goal Seasons

Very few players can hit 20+ goals on a consistent basis in the Premier League yet Sergio Aguero is just two goals from making five consecutive seasons of doing this.

Thierry Henry was the last player to achieve that feat when he hit more than 20 in each season between 2001-02 and 2005-06.

Sergio Aguero should equal that, as could Harry Kane this season, and will at that point be set up to smash another record in 2019-20 when he can make it a mind blowing six 20+ goals seasons in succession.
